Dr. Osvaldo Gaytan has been a child psychiatrist in El Paso for over 12 years. He was born in North Central El Paso and is a proud Panther. He graduated UTEP in 1989 with Honors and a Bachelors in Science, he received his MD/PhD in 1999 from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston with his PhD in Neuropharmacology, and he completed his residency in Adult psychiatry in 2003 from Emory University in Atlanta. He also completed a three year research focused child fellowship from Emory in 2006. He has been published as a first author in over 20 peer reviewed journals and done many presentations locally and nationally.
Dr. Gaytan is committed to his patients and his community and is currently the Medical Director for the Child/Adolescent Unit at El Paso Behavioral Health System. He has also helped to establish The El Paso Child Mental Health Fund over the last few years as an effort to improve the mental health care of our children in the community.
Philippe Petrus has close to 20 years of mental health experience. He was raised in Florida and has been in El Paso since 2002. He brings a wealth of expertise from community mental health centers and the hospital setting. He graduated from Drexel University with a bachelor's in Physician Assistant Studies. He received his masters degree from ATSU, Arizona School of Health Sciences, in Physician Assistant Studies, and Doctorate of Medical Science degree from Lynchburg University in Virginia.
Patricia Torres, PMHNP-BC, MSN, BSN is our clinic’s newest Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Patricia was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but has always maintained ties to the El Paso community. Patricia’s academic achievements include earning two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso: the first in Biological and Biomedical Sciences, May of 2012 and the second in Nursing, May of 2014. Patricia then continued her education, earning her MSN as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner awarded by Maryville University in May 2020. Patricia is continuing to achieve accolade in her Psychiatric/Mental Health specialty by pursuing her doctorate degree to begin Fall 2021. She has gained insightful, eye-opening professional experience that ties her practice with a needs-based community aspect. Patricia’s professional affiliations serving the Psychiatric/Mental Health community of El Paso include having been a psychiatric floor nurse, as well as a nursing supervisor at both El Paso Universal Health System and Rio Vista Behavioral Health inpatient hospitals.
Patricia’s core philosophy includes the understanding that it is a privilege to serve the local community, as she appreciates diverse perspectives and multi-faceted conditions in a personalized and compassionate approach. Patricia is a team player who utilizes communication and patient-centered approaches in a collaborative effort to improve and then maintain positive patient outcomes, utilizing the full extent of her education and experience.
Danielle Fisher was born and raised in Virginia. She has been a resident of El Paso since 2014 when her family was first stationed at Fort Bliss. Danielle originally attended Virginia Tech where she received a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and she received a Master of Science in Psychology from Virginia State University.
Danielle then pursued her interest in nursing by obtaining an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a believer in lifelong learning and became a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner after graduating with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Brandman University in December 2019. Danielle has worked in multiple areas of nursing in the past 15 years to include Neuro ICU, Dermatology, Primary Care and Mental Health for all ages. She has a special interest in respectfully serving the mental health community and helping members work toward achieving wellness.
Hector Guillen, PMHNP-BC, MSN, BSN was born in El Paso but raised just outside in Fabens, Texas. Hector has always been a native of El Paso County and considers the city his home. Hector attended the University of Texas at El Paso where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 2016. Hector became focused in the mental health field since graduating as a nurse which led him to continue his education and earning his MSN as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner awarded by Maryville University in May 2020. Hector has always worked with the mental health community since graduating as an RN and has worked in diverse inpatient and outpatient settings for the past 5 years as a floor nurse and supervisor for PEAK Behavioral Health, El Paso Psychiatric Center, and Emergence Health Network. Hector strongly believes in continuing education, in which he plans to pursue his DNP in 2022. Hector has worked with different individuals in the mental health field including children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Hector believes that both children and adolescents are the future of tomorrow’s healthcare system, which is why no individual should ever have to struggle with mental illness.
Manuel Estrada PMHNP was born and raised in el Paso TX. He is very proud to be part of this cultural diverse community. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in nursing at UTEP in December 2015. Since then, he has been working in the mental and behavioral health in different hospitals settings such as Peak Behavioral, El Paso Behavioral Health System and Rio Vista Behavioral. He has worked with different populations including geriatric, military, rehab, children and adolescent. He currently forms part of Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) team at EPBHS and is taking continuous trainings on Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in order to expand his education and knowledge to provide better service to his community.
His desire to expand his knowledge encourage him to pursue his title as a Nurse Practitioner at Walden University located on Minneapolis, Minnesota and obtained his master’s degree in May 2020.
Nancy Lopez has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for over 4 years in an inpatient and outpatient setting. She has a Bachelor's degree in Human Services and a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling of Mental Health from the University of Phoenix.
Jesse Montero is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Post Master’s of Science in Counseling with focus in Trauma and Child and Adolescent Disorders from Grand Canyon University. Jesse’s previous experience includes working with children and adolescents in the inpatient setting in treatment of anger, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Jesse has empathic and genuine ability to connect with clients which allows him to work effectively with children and adolescent clients. Jesse utilizes an individualized approach catered to each client which includes his experience and training in EMDR.
Cecilia Camargo is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Masters of Education in counseling from Sul Ross State University, in Alpine, Texas. Cecilia has been a therapist for 3 years, and her experience consists of working in the inpatient and outpatient hospital setting as well as private practice. Prior to counseling, Cecilia was a middle school teacher for 14 years. Cecilia emphasizes on providing the best individualized care for the community and currently serves adolescents and adults. Cecilia’s focus is to meet the needs of individuals through the use of different modalities and therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on DBT.
Joaquin Lopez is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Texas at El Paso. Joaquin has been a counselor for over five years, including outpatient and inpatient settings. Joaquin has experience working with adults, geriatric population, and with children and adolescents. Joaquin’s focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship and allowing the individual the freedom to work towards their recovery. He is trained in TF- CBT and EMDR to help individuals who have experienced trauma. Through being compassionate, empathetic, and supportive, Joaquin is dedicated to serving the community and helping others in their healing process.
